A Practice Nurse (PN) is a registered nurse who’s carried out additional training to enable them to provide a range of services, including wound management, Travel advice and vaccinations, Childhood immunisations, Family planning including cervical screening, Men’s health, Sexual health, Management of long-term conditions, Blood sample collection and ECGs
Nursing Associate
A Nursing Associate is a member of the practice nursing team who’s registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC). They can promote health and give information about preventing ill health. Carry out baseline observations – blood pressure, temperature and pulse. Collect clinical specimens including blood, Undertake ECGs. Support patients and their families following unwelcome diagnoses. Carry out a range of clinical tasks
Healthcare Assistant
HCAs can collect blood samples, Measure and record blood pressure, Collect specimens such as urinalysis. Perform lung-function tests and peak-flow tests, Undertake new patient health checks, Record ECGs. Provide health promotion advice such as smoking cessation, Support the nursing team with dressing changes and vaccinations.
